I host with Host Gator and have found them good people. Recent talks with them and changing prices on some of the services lead me to read other reviews. These are interesting shared hosts but I do not think they could meet my needs. Great review though.

We host with http://www.vpsville.ca and http://www.swvps.com. vpsville has never gone down on us but is more expensive than swvps and has much better support.

I jumped straight into a vps, bypassing the shared hosting and it was great. A vps is just like having your own server, we run apache, mysql, php and an ftp server!

Well, as long as you're running one domain with a small site, you'll be just fine. I don't like the whole way the support system is laid out, but I admit that their response is the quickest I've ever seen and usually to the point. I would, however, recommend that you don't commit there for long, unless you know you're going to stay small.

right now I'm hosting a very small wordpress mu at siteground and actually had no problem with them, and received relativly quick support. My bigest con is that their Cpanel could have been better.

I guess it somewhat depends on what you are going to host there I didn't run yet into any of the restrictions you have mentioned (I said its a small site).

I'm curious. What's the biggest Drupal site you were able to host on shared hosting without being suspended for excessive RAM/CPU usage?

What was bad about your VPS experience? could you share a little more about this?

We build, manage, upgrade and migrate and host sites into Drupal CMS.

Some good hosts are hostmonster.com for shared hosting and mediatemple.com and he.net for dedicated hosting.

My experience with VPS is bad and I have tried few so far. I don't want to publish the info on this. We have enough clients and manage complicated environments to know who is good and who is not.
