Automatically post your new WordPress blog posts on your Facebook profile

Wordpress & Facebook Tired of posting the blogs updates to your Facebook account manually? Want to keep your Facebook contacts up to date with your latest blog posts? There are a few way to do that automatically.

In Facebook, the one Facebook application that seems to do it right is Social RSS (formerly RSS-Connect). In the settings, add your blog name and RSS address, set your "Display Options" and in Newsfeed make sure you grant access and set the feed to "Yes".

If you want to do it through your WordPress blog, try the Wordbook plugin.

This plugin allows you to cross-post your blog posts to your Facebook Wall. Your Facebook "Boxes" tab will show your most recent blog posts.

If you're looking for a plugin that does the opposite, taking your facebook updates and posting them on your blog, take a look at the  Facebook Posted Items plugin. If you're looking to combine all sorts of feeds from different social websites, I strongly recommend Lifestream.

The option I dislike the most is using the Facebook notes option. Following are a few posts on how to do that. I recommend against it (posts old entries, ugly display, no batch remove etc.) :

BTW - the Facebook Connect WordPress Plugin will allow your blog users to login using their facebook accounts (photo in post from their website).

    I really like using the Networked Blogs app, which you can sync with your fan page and your personal profile for blog updates. Interestingly enough, the majority of traffic coming from Taiwan Photographers at this point comes directly from this Facebook app.

    Carrie - Good point. I started using that as well and was going to add that. It should be pointed out that they require someone to validate you and X followers to start syncing the feed, which is done once a day. There are sometimes issues with the automated posting on your wall or fan page, but all in all - they're alright. I hope they'll keep the Google Ads to a minimum, as they've done so far.

    Actually, they've made a few adjustments in the past few weeks. Once you've set up your profile, your site can easily be validated by adding their app code to a widget area on your site. Validation occurs within minutes and then the widget can be removed. I believe they've even added code for WordPress.com users who aren't able to use javascript. They're also syncing feeds without followers. I added Lay Your Head Here. com a few days ago and the sync time was immediate, despite not having any followers. The only thing I don't like about the app is that posts don't show on the front wall of a fan page. Instead, they are posted under the 'blog' box at the top of the page. I'd prefer mine to be front and center.

    This only works for personal profiles, though, right?
