Recommended Best Basic Android Apps

After 6 happy months with an Android device and endless experimentation with all sorts of applications following is a list the apps that I use for Android which I recommend (as of Q2 2011).

1. SlideIT Keyboard – An amazing keyboard. Makes you feel sorry for everyone else having to type each letter.
2. Application Protect- Protect your apps and private info.
3. Tweetdeck – Twitter/Facebook
4. QQPlayer – Best player, plays FLVs.
5. ES File Explorer – Best file explorer/installer.
6. ES Task Manager – Shut down task consuming battery power.
7. Skype – Calls for free or very cheap.
8. WhatsApp – free text messaging to those who use it.
9. Go Launcher – Fast and easy launcher replacement.
10. Go SMS Pro – SMS replacement.
11. Go Contacts – Contacts replacement.
12. Go Dialer – Dialer replacement.
13. Go Weather – Best weather display.
14. Google Pinyin – Type Chinese in Pinyin.
15. Google Translate – Chinese-English translations.
16. Hanping CE – Chinese-Pinyin-English dictionary.
17. gReader – Offline Google Reader reading.
18. Audiomanager Console – fine tune volume preferences.
19. MyPhoneExplorer Client – Sync contacts with PC.
20. SetCPU – Optimizes your performance (requires root).
21. Titanium Backup – Backup your apps (requires root).
22. Apps2SD – dah! move apps to SD rather than taking up memory.

Aside from SlideIT which has a time-limited free version all the rest are completely free, which is quite remarkable, and you can find them on the Android market.
